A Bit About Us

Golden Beginnings

We have been raising and showing golden retrievers for about 25 years. At Waynewood, we now have three generations who love this breed. Waynewood Goldens was established by Arlene Schneckenberger. Her daughter, Lynda Bessey and husband, Mark, now breed and raise quality puppies. The show dogs are professionally handled by granddaughter, Kristen Trombley. Our first golden was purchased as a 4-H project. We were soon “hooked” and began competing in AKC events. Shortly thereafter, we began our breeding program. It has always been most important that we do everything possible to breed healthy golden retrievers with health clearances (hips, heart, elbows, and eyes). A loving and gentle temperament is an absolute must. We do a thorough check of bloodlines and do what we feel is the best possible breeding to produce sound golden puppies. We raise one or two litters a year and are proud that many folks come back for a second puppy or refer others to us. We enjoy using the show ring to “showcase” our dogs’ fine qualities. In the breed ring we have finished numerous American and Canadian Champions taking honors such as Best of Breeds, Group Placements, and Judges Award of Merit. Our obedience honors include Companion Dog Excellent “CDX” and Utility Dog Excellent “UDX” titles. We also enjoy field work including hunting with our goldens. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA), the Golden Retriever Club of Western New York (GRCWNY), and Southtowns Dog Training Club. Kristen Trombley is a past recipient of the Junior Achievement Award presented by the GRCA.
